ChatGPT has been upgraded to browse the internet. You are no longer limited to the data it had until September 2021. Now, it’s equipped to provide you with authoritative information right from the web, complete with direct links to the sources.

This browsing feature was initially launched in May, and since then, the developers have been on a feedback-absorbing spree. They've listened to users and made significant updates.

Among them are adherence to robots.txt and the identifying of user agents. This way, websites have a say in how ChatGPT interacts with them, making the browsing feature respectful of the digital spaces it visits.

The browsing capability is not just a cool trick; it's a highly functional feature, especially when it comes to tasks requiring the latest information. Whether you're diving into technical research, hunting for the perfect bike, or plotting out a vacation. It sifts through the vast internet, pinpoints the most relevant, up-to-date information.

As of now, the browsing feature is only available to Plus and Enterprise users. For all users it should be available in the near future. To activate browsing future, assuming you are a paying user, go to the settings in you account, select Beta Features and toggle on ‘Browse with Bing’.

Start a new chat and select 'Browse with Bing' under GPT-4 to enable it.
