Rumors about GPT-4 improvements abound; let's compare it to the current model.

GPT-4 may have a significantly higher number of parameters compared to GPT-3.

While AI language models such as ChatGPT and Dall-E continue to amaze people with their capabilities, they are both based on OpenAI's GPT-3.x family of large language models which employ deep learning techniques to generate human-like text from given inputs.

GPT-3 was released in 2020 and brought many improvements over GPT-2. Now, the latest version - GPT-4 - is set to launch soon, and people are eagerly anticipating the upgrades that it will bring. Let us compare the two versions.

OpenAI shared a preview of GPT-4 on Wednesday on their social media accounts for ChatGPT.

What is GPT-4?

GPT stands for "Generative Pre-trained Transformer". This is a series of language models that get better and smarter by learning from huge amounts of data. They use technologies like NLP (Natural Language Processing) and NLG (Natural Language Generation) to better understand and reproduce human language.

GPT-4 will come out later in 2023 and replace GPT-3 and GPT-3.5. It's predicted that GPT-4 will be better and do a lot more than the current version.

GPT-4 vs GPT-3

In a 2022 interview, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, stated that GPT-4 would not be significantly larger than GPT-3, which has 175 billion parameters. OpenAI is likely trying to extract more out of the same number of parameters with GPT-4.

However, some more recent and unverified reports suggest that GPT-4 could have up to one trillion parameters, which would make it significantly more accurate and faster. This increase in parameters could also lead to an increase in cost for OpenAI.

GPT-4 is expected to provide a number of improvements to its ability to generate natural-sounding responses to user prompts. Its improved optimization could mean that GPT-4 can more accurately interpret human intent, even when errors are present, compared to earlier GPT versions.

Summary

While OpenAI has kept much of the information about GPT-4 private, there is some speculation circulating the internet. As such, it is wise to approach this information with caution.
